PARENTAL RELOCATION
New York law requires a custodial parent to get court approval to relocate with a child.
The court will decide if the move is in the child's best interests, and will consider many factors, including:
The reasons for the move
The quality of the child's relationship with each parent
The child's safety and the safety of each parent from abuse
The child's education
The stability of the new home environment
The effect on visitation
The effect on extended family relationships
